My name is Jordan Moore and I am 20 years old.
Since discovering 'Urbex' (which is short for 'Urban Exploring') I have done nothing but enjoy myself.
I havent always been into the whole; exploring abandoned/derelict buildings however. When I was 15 I got my first BMX bike, and as my passion for that sport grew over the years, I continued to travel to new places to ride. Ended up doing all nighters just riding around in london, and going up north to ride, I even took my bike over to Barcelona for a week away. Then I remember, one day last year, me and a few of my mates were pretty bored, and we noticed an article online about Severalls Mental Asylum in Colchester, so being teenagers, we just jumped in our cars and went to check it out.
Obviously, being 'newbies' to the whole Urban Exploring gig, we were completely unprepared; the only light we had were our phones (which not surprisingly, do not last long when you've got an iPhone). Our clothing was, totally unsuitable for hopping a fence, baggy tees and skinny jeans. So, returning a little more prepared, we found a way in.
I loved every minute of it, having previously researched the history of the Asylum, just walking through the halls, it was crazy, I had this, visual story going on in my head of what took place here many years ago.
Since then, we never really did anything, that was our first and only trip to an abandoned site. However this year, something sparked and I told myself I want to see more, so I did exactly that, whilst making some incredible and trustworthy urbex friends along the way.
Security and Police can be a bother, they never seem to understand why I do what I do, but when you've been bmx riding for near 6 years, you get used to it, because they never liked me on a bmx either!
I hope you enjoy my photographs and stories I have to tell.
